Federpesca is a partner in the EIT Food-funded AGAPE project, with the task of developing aquaculture sector-relevant educational courses.
Composed of 10 video lessons of 40 minutes each, the courses aim to support the development of a highly specialised workforce for the aquaculture sector, not only for manual labour but also for business management. The training, recognised through certification provided by Federpesca, aims to increase the skill levels of workers in the blue and circular economy. It focuses on sustainable aquaculture and environmental and administrative knowledge. Federpesca has involved a team of experts, with expertise in international development, politics, pedagogy, marine biology and content production for the producion of these elearning materials.
“The AGAPE project and the video lessons”, said Francesca Biondo, Director of Federpesca, “are part of a long-term vision of Federpesca, which sees the aquaculture sector as a strongly growing industry segment, that significantly contributes to the global food supply.” She continues: “The project and the courses will contribute to ensuring that the aquaculture industry has the necessary resources to re-train the workforce, create new jobs and successfully transition to a high-skill, high-tech industry”
The courses will become available in the coming months.
